4th of July 2010

We took the beastie with us to Quincy for the 4th of July. She had a couple of firsts while we were there. She learned to swim at Packer Lake, and pretty much decided that its the best thing in the world. I've never seen a dog swim laps just for the sake of swimming, but Courage does. She LOVED swimming around the several high sierra lakes we visited. These were taken at Silver Lake and Lost lake.

Yes, that is a little Vizsla head sticking out of the middle of the lake

On Saturday we decided to go on a hell hike to the illusive Lost Lake. There was no trail, so Courage had to trail blaze through super dense Manzanita brush and up granite cliffs. I was honestly amazed at what that little dog can do. We had a German Pointer named Kenny with us that was not at all happy about the hellish conditions of the hike, but we all made it in the end. Below is a pic of the mountain we climbed, after hiking around the lake through the Manzanita.

At the top we found some snow patches, and Courage and Kenny had a blast running through the snow for the first time.

Courage had a great time running and swimming around, chasing sticks and as many lizards and snakes as she could.

Portraits of my Vizsla

In the Field

FLYING VIZSLA!!!!!!!! I brought my camera down to the orchard at my folks house to capture Courage in tall grass before we mowed it down for the year. To move across the orchard she would spring up through the grass to navigate, bouncing like a fawn through the three foot high grass. It was quite a sight.

My Girls

This was taken just before sunset off of Skyline Road after a hike with some friends.

Going for a walk

Usually Courage is allowed to run unrestrained through the woods, but sometimes, when in parks and other such places, she has to be harnessed. As one might imagine, harnessing the energy of a Vizsla is no easy matter. I foresee obedience school in her future.

A Playful Pup

First weekend out of the kennel...

We drove to Marysville, picked up a 9 week old Vizsla pup, and continued on to our destination and weekend long camping trip.It was cold, and wet, but our little dog lived up to her name. Having never been outside a fenced yard she now had 33 acres to run around on. It was pretty funny to see a 9 week old pup trying to run through fields and along forest paths. Her biggest challenge proved to be sticks i the trail, as she tried to bite every one that she ran by, at full gallop, causing her to crash to the ground with a thud many times.
